What would you say if a random person came up to you, sword in hand, and said, “You are going to be with child. Not just any child, but God’s child.” Would you run away screaming? Would you take it at face value and laugh it off? Would you have hope and believe it?
I don’t truly know how I would react. I like to think I’d have hope and believe much more. But I think I’d probably run screaming. I mean let’s face it. This day and age if a guy comes to you with a sword in his hand we are all more than likely running away.
Before you read our scripture, and dive into the word, I want to say this. DOUBTS ARE OKAY! Truly. You can doubt. You can scream, kick, get angry all of it. Doubts are okay to have. This is something you will hear me talk about over and over again. I really want this to get across to everyone. You can doubt, but it is what comes out of your doubt and how you doubt that is the fine line between okay and not okay.
You are going to read about two people in our reading. Zechariah and very young Mary. I want to know what you think about their doubts, feelings, any differences or similarities they have, and look at their individual faith. You could maybe even take note of where they are in their lives.
Read Luke 1 and compare the two people of our story. We are not having any other scripture because I want you to really hear and get the lessons from these two people.
We are really excited for our meeting which will take place at Perdenales State Park! The journey we have planned for you will rock your socks off I think!
